The e-bike company expands in its biggest market Germany by opening the second showroom in the country after locating their regional headquarters in Berlin in 2018.
Berlin | AUGUST 19, 2020 – The Cologne showroom operates as a test ride and service centre for the region. The expansion takes place amid fast-paced growth for the company with sales increasing more than 100% year-over-year.
Ampler reports over 100% year-over-year growth for the first six months of 2020. Founded in Estonia, Germany is the company’s biggest market with 80% of all bikes sold in the country. The opening of the Cologne showroom comes on the back of the company establishing a base in Berlin back in 2018.
The new showroom is located in the vibrant Südstadt district of Cologne at Severinstraße 111. The store operates as a base for all Ampler’s North Rhine-Westphalia and Benelux operations, which include in-store sales, a test ride centre, the regional warranty and bike servicing site, and a community hub for all new and existing customers.
We are very excited to have opened a new showroom in Cologne. This is the region where most of our customers are based, and it’s important for us to keep on improving the service levels and the Ampler experience. Cologne is a very nice city with a great infrastructure and cycling culture, so we feel this is the right place to expand to. The new Cologne showroom marks an important milestone for Ampler, strengthening our presence not only in Germany but also for the nearby Benelux customers.Ardo Kaurit, CEO and Co-founder, Ampler Bikes.
Ampler Bikes currently employs 72 people, out of which a quarter operate in Germany. For test rides, there are currently Ampler ambassadors in 22 different German locations and the company has established a constantly expanding service centre network with service locations in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Hannover.
Supporting Ampler’s position in Germany as well as the global growing cycling trend, the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid presented the Ampler model Stout as a national gift to the German Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier in June.
Ampler Bikes makes light electric bicycles for urban commuters. The company launched in 2016 with a mission to create better commuting experiences and remove barriers from cycling. Currently, Ampler has 70 people working between Berlin, Cologne and Tallinn. The Ampler Bikes showrooms are located in the lively Berlin neighbourhood in Prenzlauer Berg, at Kollwitzstrasse 47 and at the vibrant Severinstraße 111 in Cologne.
Current and future Ampler owners can now have their bikes serviced by specially trained experts in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Hannover. Further locations and partners in Stuttgart, Zürich, and Amsterdam will follow in the coming months. Warranty cases can easily be remedied with the partner shops in cooperation with Ampler customer service. Regular maintenance and repair work can also, of course, also be done by any local bike shop.
