SILCA Ultimate Chain Stripper and Wax Prep has been proven to get rid of even the factory grease within two applications and 10 minutes of time. And it's easy to use, simply apply on each roller of the chain, let it sit for 5 minutes, apply again, let sit for another 5 minutes, and rinse. Of course, it can also be used for hot wax treatments, providing up to 30% longer life than a chain cleaned by traditional methods, thanks to the primer aspect of the product.

SILCA Ultimate Chain Stripper and Wax Prep is a highly concentrated, biodegradable* degreaser combined with a wax adhesion promoter (primer) which allows for fast, single-step preparation of factory chains for waxing while also improving wax adhesion and increasing longevity.
Up until now, the biggest hurdle for cyclists looking to upgrade to wax based lubricants has been the time, chemicals, and containers necessary to properly strip the factory grease from the chain. Some of the recommended methods use as many as 3 separate chemicals and can take up to 2 full days to complete. By taking a totally different approach with this product, we've developed something that not only strips the chain completely of other lubricants, but actually leaves the metal prepped for optimal adhesion of the wax. Since the surge of wax treatments, chain cleaning is a known challenge due to the amount of chemicals, time, and steps it takes until a final result can be achieved. When designing the SILCA Ultimate Chain Stripper and Wax Prep formula, Silca started at the end of the process and worked backward. They identified chemicals that drive out greases and oils while promoting wax adhesion to metal. And here’s what they discovered: an organic cleaner that lifts and encapsulates greases and oils allowing them to easily be rinsed away from the metal surface. The result is the world’s first wax-optimized chain cleaner which not only removes greases and oils but primes the metal surface for improved adhesion for wax-based lubricants.

How to use
FOR HOT MELT WAXING
Start with a new, factory chain with SILCA Secret Blend Hot Melt, simply immerse the chain in the Ultimate Chain Stripper and Wax Prep. Agitate for 30 seconds. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes. Agitate, again, for 30 seconds. Remove the chain from the stripper solution and rinse with water. Rinsing removes the encapsulated factory grease/oils. Drop the chain directly into the hot wax. Any remaining liquid will boil off within a few minutes. Once the chain is fully waxed, the chain prep/primer will provide up to 30% longer life than a chain cleaned by traditional methods.
FOR DRIP-APPLIED WAXING
Start with a new or nearly new chain with SILCA Super Secret Chain Coating without removing the chain from the bicycle. Apply one (1) drop of SILCA Chain Stripper to each roller of the chain while backpedaling. Allow the chain to soak for 5 minutes. Backpedal 10 revolutions of the crank to agitate the stripper. Re-apply one (1) drop per roller allowing. Let it sit for 5 more minutes. Rinse with clean water while backpedaling at least 10 revolutions. Apply Super Secret Chain Coating to each link and allow it to cure.
*SILCA Chain Stripper is made from biodegradable ingredients but should be disposed of with other chemicals and solvents after use.
