Silca Announces Its Fastest Wax Ever Plus An Add-on for Endurance

Building on the success of its already fastest in the category, Silca Secret Chain Blend hot melt wax, Silca has developed products that work as a system to fine-tune wax performance for maximum speed, durability, or a balance of both.

One of the secrets behind Secret Chain Blend is that it's a mix of 4 unique types of wax and not just Paraffin like most other hot wax products. This blend of waxes along with our proprietary WS2 has kept the Secret Chain Blend on top of the ZeroFrictionCycling charts for the last 3 years with many competitors reformulating to get close, but none of them able to beat it. This 4-waxblend has allowed SILCA to blend the best overall mix of high performance, dirt resistance, and application longevity.

For years, athletes have asked Silca for specific wax blends for their needs “which wax would be best for Unbound, or can you make a wax for this key stage of the Tour”, and SpeedChip and EnduranceChip were developed to address these needs.

They are the result of years of research and development, working closely with professional cyclists, WorldTour teams, and now Olympic medalists.

These products empower athletes at the home level as well as pro tour mechanics to create chain wax blends that match their specific goals such as Leadville, Unbound, a 40km time trial, or even just base training/commuting.

EnduranceChip is a semi-synthetic wax blend boasting some of the longest molecular chain lengths possible in a wax for ultimate durability. It is designed to extend the life of wax, providing up to 2-3x times longer lasting performance between re-waxing when added to Secret Chain Blend. This makes it perfect for training, long-distance events, and harsh conditions.

One of the number one concerns Silca heard from cyclists interested in switching to a waxed chain is how long it lasts. EnduranceChip solves that specific problem stretching usage up to 600-800km (about 500 miles).

While still getting the cleanliness and quietness of a waxed chain. The tradeoff is it is slightly less efficient than Secret Chain Blend alone, while the chain is still considerably faster than with traditional wet or dry lubricants.

SpeedChip is a full synthetic wax produced from the same exotic base oils used in SILCA Synergetic.  This is the absolute fastest wax ever used in a cycling lubricant, blended with 3 sizes of sub-micron and nanoscale Tungsten Disulfide platelets for further reduced friction and anti-wear properties. 

Proven in testing to increase chain efficiency by up to 0.6% over SILCA Secret Chain Blend, with the only downside being more frequent re-waxing intervals required (see chart for more details). Silca expects up to 8hrs of use on a SpeedChip chain depending on conditions.
