The brand from Oregon brings a second charter to its Gravel & Loam Society in the shape of a new experimental team; applications will be open until December 2nd, 2024.
November 19th, Bend (OR, USA) / Amsterdam (NL) – Old Man Mountain launches its new Experimental Bikepacking Team, the second charter of the Loam & Gravel Society.
Focusing on style without being afraid of podiums, the bike-packing solution brand is willing to recruit a selected group of individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, interests, and knowledge.
We commit to nurturing a lively and inclusive cycling community by focusing on shared experiences and collective joy. We see bikepacking and ultra racing as a means to connect, explore, and grow together while also pushing ourselves further.Erik Fenner, Marketing Manager at Old Man Mountain
The Loam and Gravel Society is an Experimental Cycling Team. But what does that mean? Well, we won’t have a team bus, we won’t be racing a series of races together, we won’t even all ride the same bikes. But we will learn from each other, support each other, and develop each other's riding and race abilities to perform at our peaks, tackling some of the hardest bikepacking races in the world.
That is up to you. Each member of the team will get to choose the races and events they want to participate in and Old Man Mountain will pay up to $2,000 in expenses to help make that happen. Whether it’s flights, race fees, or other costs that come up.
Some members might end up in the same races, and others won’t. We want to support your goals for bikepacking in 2025.
The team is lead by Old Man Mountain and sponsored in partnership with Silca and Robert Axle Project.
Old Man Mountain was born from the need to mount racks on bikes without traditional mounting points. This started with QR skewer-mounted racks, and has evolved into a full line of optional Fit Kits for Thru Axle, or QR Skewer mounting racks on any bike. The products are tested and trusted in the most extreme environments on earth. Old Man Mountain racks have helped riders traverse Iceland in bitter cold winters, carried the gear of countless GDMBR riders, and circumnavigated the globe. The only remaining question is where will it go with you?
