Chiru, the French brand specializing in titanium solutions, has launched its Fat Bike Model ahead of the Iditarod Trail Invitational in Alaska.
Paris/Amsterdam—For Immediate Release— Chiru launches its exploring rig, The Nanulak, conceived and built for extreme adventures where fat tires are the best rolling solution. Crafted from titanium, this bike is the ultimate companion for conquering snow-covered landscapes and sandy or rocky terrains in full autonomy.
The Chiru Nanulak is born out of a collaboration between Willy Molonia of PA Cycling and Pierre-A Le Magnan of Chiru Bikes, with the clear aim of creating the best bike for the toughest bikepacking event on snow, the chilly IDITAROD Invitational in Alaska, where temperatures reach the -40°C.
Alaska was a pivotal place and landscape for its conception, so Chiru chose the name “Nanulak” derived from the Inuktitut language. Nanulak refers to the hybrid breed between the polar bear and the grizzly bear. As the planet heats and ecosystems clash, the territory of these two bears is now overlapping, resulting in crossbreeding.
Like the Nanulak bear, this Chiru bike embodies resilience and adaptability amidst our planet's climate evolution. The parallel between the Nanulak bear and the bike lies in their ability to roam across even more diverse and inhospitable landscapes with ease.
As Pierre Arnaud Le Magnan, Founder and CEO, says, “Titanium is still the best material to achieve the optimal balance between comfort, lightness, and power transfer. That makes it the ultimate material for a reliable bike that can withstand the hardship of bikepacking or ultra-distance challenges, and to top it off, it's a low-impact environmental material."
Designed with long chainstays for enhanced tracking and traction in snow, it is designed for multiple luggage capacities. The most distinctive feature is a smart crank system design that enables seamless switching between a Fat tire Q factor crank suitable for 26x5.0" tires and a narrower Q Factor crank compatible with 29x3.0 tires, giving the Nanulak exceptional versatility.
Embark on thrilling adventures to explore the great outdoors with the Chiru Nanulak, which not only serves as the perfect set-up for snowscape rides but also provides a perfect set-up for sandy terrain or rocky trails thanks to the Narrower Crank compatibility combined with 29x3.0" tires.
All the Nanulaks offered by Chiru will have the option of having an Old Man Mountain Divide Fat rack mounted. This comes from the alignment that both brands have when it comes to offering the best product, built to last, and without compromise to performance and basic functionalities— i.e: going further, faster, and loaded, without troubles or rattling both in the rider and the load.
Founded in 2009, CHIRU designs and tests bikes that balance power transfer, comfort, and reliability, enabling cyclists to go longer, faster, and stronger. Their mission is to inspire riders to push boundaries, experience joy, and share their achievements with a community of passionate riders shaping tomorrow's racing wild landscape.
