Indianapolis / Amsterdam – For immediate release – Back in 2015, SILCA teamed up with legendary Italian frame builder Dario Pegoretti to put his iconic Ciavete-style paint on a very limited number of SuperPista Ultimate Floor Pumps. The name, which loosely translates to “our choice,” is all about the total trust you put in the hands of the builder and artist.
Each pump was hand-painted in that moment, capturing pure emotion, vision, and expression. Ciavete was the original "Surprise Me" in the cycling world, and it went on to inspire a whole new generation of frame builders.
Now, a decade later, we're continuing the tradition Dario started by collaborating with Pegoretti once again. Though Dario the man is no longer with us, we've commissioned 10 Ciavete pumps with no creative input from us, placing our complete trust in the artists who learned from Dario himself. These pumps were hand-painted in Italy at the Pegoretti “Bottega” and then sent back here for final assembly in Indianapolis. As much function as they are art, a design piece to live in your home.
Dario Pegoretti (1956–2018) was an Italian framebuilder who turned steel into something alive on the road. Trained under Luigino Milani and later working from his own workshop in Verona, he became known for bicycles that carried both soul and precision. His Ciavete paint style, often compared to jazz or graffiti, made each frame a one-of-a-kind expression. Riders and collectors still look to his work as proof that a bicycle can be both art and machine
