March 5th, 2026 – Post Carry Co. today announced the launch of its new case, the Loomer, a hybrid soft and hard case that packs road and gravel bikes, with the cockpit-on, in a small form factor to make travel with a bike easy and convenient. The Loomer is now available for pre-order and will ship from the US in April 2026.
Post Carry Co.’s first offering in 2018 was the Transfer Case, a travel case that allows cyclists to pack their bikes in its smallest footprint possible, making transportation easy and reducing airline fees. However, with the rise in popularity of integrated cockpit bikes, bike disassembly for travel has become complicated, and the need for a travel case that leaves the cockpit on has arisen. Post Carry Co. sought to keep the compact philosophy of the Transfer Case, but as a cockpit-on solution, so the Loomer was born.
My number one goal with the Loomer was simple: make it as small as possible. I studied the geometry charts of dozens of modern road and gravel bikes and came up with the smallest shape that would fit these bikes. That smaller footprint is something cyclists will notice compared to traveling with other bike cases. Even with the cockpit left on, it feels easy to travel with—exactly what I want riders to experience on their way to an adventure instead of dealing with the hassles of getting there.Marc Mendoza, Founder & Designer at Post Carry Co.
In developing the Loomer, frame geometries of modern road and gravel bikes were meticulously analyzed to determine the smallest size and shape possible that would fit most bikes. The result was to offer the Loomer in two sizes: 333 L and 370 L. The former fits bikes with a Medium/54-56 cm frame size, and the latter fits bikes up to an XL/61 cm frame size. By offering two sizes, cyclists with smaller frames can avoid settling for a one-size-fits-all bike case; instead, they have a size that feels tailored to them. The emphasis on making the Loomer as small as possible resulted in it being 10 to 15% smaller than other cockpit-on travel cases, making it easier to fit the Loomer in vehicles and move around during your trip.
Packing a bike can take as little as 5 minutes. Only the wheels, seatpost, and rear derailleur need to be removed. The pedals can stay on, but removing one can help the bike fit better in the Loomer’s compact interior. The chain stays on since the rear derailleur can easily be placed into a padded side pouch. Brake rotors stay on since they are placed inside padded wheel bags and protected within the Loomer. The fork connects to an aluminum frame that is bolted to the base of the bike. The bottom bracket sits on a foam block and straps down securely. There's no need for additional foam wrapping around your bike, as the Loomer is lined entirely with foam. Wheel bags and adapters for thru-axle or quick-release are included.
One of the key features of the Loomer is thickly padded corrugated polycarbonate panels, the same method of protection used in the Transfer Case. The corrugation is aligned vertically, which resists load from the top without collapsing, and maintains the shape and structure of the Loomer. There are also corrugated panels in between the two sidewalls to provide crush protection. The rigid polycarbonate base gives further structure and protection at the bottom, ensuring the entire case is protected on all sides.
For storage, the panels can be removed from their pockets, folded, and stacked inside the case. The fabric sides wrap around themselves like a burrito, and the built-in straps keep everything tied down. The total height of the case reduces to 30 cm (from a height of 76 cm or 82 cm, depending on size). The entire process of packing down the Loomer for storage or building it up for travel takes under 5 minutes. Additionally, there are compartments for accessories and loose components. There are compartments for the seat post and rear derailleur integrated inside the Loomer, and storage compartments for your helmet, cycling kits, and more.
Maneuverability was key. The four-wheel base makes it easy to roll around through airports, sidewalks or hotels. Since the Loomer's width was determined by the maximum handlebar width it can fit (up to 44 cm outside-to-outside), it has a wide base that makes it extremely stable to roll around without tipping over. The swiveling front wheels allow you to pull it and navigate smoothly through turns beside you.
The Loomer weighs under 12 kilos. With a bike and accessories, the total weight comes to about 22 to 23 kg, which is right at most airlines' weight limit. With many airlines easing their bike fees, airline fees are no longer as burdensome as they were before.
