24 September 2025, Amsterdam, NL - While much of the global cycling industry faces slowing sales and uncertainty, Amsterdam-based BikeFair is breaking the trend. The trusted marketplace for verified second-hand bicycles today announced strong year-on-year growth, proving that safety, transparency, and circular economy principles resonate with Dutch consumers.
In Q3 2025, BikeFair posted a 40% increase in revenue compared to the same quarter last year, Q3 2024. Notably, e-bikes accounted for 34% of all sales, showing rapid consumer adoption of trusting marketplace sales, compared to just 15% a year earlier. BikeFair collaborates with its vendors across many channels and leverages the Fietsnetwork application.
The momentum extends beyond a single quarter. To date, sales in 2025 in the e-bike category are already double those of 2023 and 45% higher than the total achieved in 2024.
Over the past three months, BikeFair has facilitated the sale of 600 bikes across the Netherlands. Each bike was verified against the national theft register and sold with secure payments, proof of purchase, and buyer protection.
“While many in the bike sector are seeing a slowdown, our growth shows the clear demand for a safer, more sustainable way to buy bikes,” said Jan Pecnik, founder of BikeFair. “By combining consumer trust with circular economy benefits, we’re making second-hand not just an alternative, but the preferred choice.”
BikeFair’s strong quarter also reflects its expanding service ecosystem. Along with several new vendors from the Friesland and Groningen provinces, the company recently announced a new partnership with Laka, bringing insurance solutions directly to its riders. By addressing consumer concerns like theft protection and reliability, BikeFair continues to reduce barriers to buying pre-owned bikes.
The results reinforce BikeFair’s position as a leader in transforming the second-hand bike market into a transparent, secure, and scalable alternative to traditional retail.
BikeFair is the Netherlands’ first fully verified second-hand bike marketplace. Every listing is checked against the national theft register, with safe payments, proof of purchase, and a six-month guarantee included. From city bikes to e-bikes, BikeFair makes buying second-hand as easy, safe, and sustainable as buying new.
