Appointment of experienced bike-trade representatives signals further support for German specialist dealers and TMD Locks’ keyless, alarm-equipped TMD Chain Lock
Almere, the Netherlands, 22nd October 2026 – Following the TMD Chain Lock's June 2026 launch, TMD Locks has appointed three independent sales agents to represent the brand in Germany.
Frank Hanewinkel, Jürgen Moch and Peter Schmidt will look after specialist bicycle and e-bike dealers across Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, and South-West Germany, giving dealers local, face-to-face support in Europe's leading e-bike market, according to ZIV, the national industry association representing the bicycle and e-bike sector in Germany.
Germany is where the e-bike has become everyday transport, and where riders increasingly feel the cost of theft. German dealers want partners who know their shop and their customers. Frank, Jürgen and Peter bring exactly that, and we are proud to have them on board.Leonard Heuker of Hoek, Managing Director, TMD Locks.
The appointments follow a strong start in the Benelux for the TMD Chain Lock. The lock combines keyless Bluetooth operation, a built-in 100 dB motion alarm and ART-2 certification, and weighs from just 1.3 kg. In Germany, it is already accepted by e-bike insurers, including Alteos, Ammerländer Versicherung, ENRA, Helden, Hepster, Linexo, and Qover.
Germany is a natural next step for the brand. With around two million e-bikes sold in the country in 2025, the German Insurance Association (GDV) reports that the average insured loss per bicycle theft reached a record €1,270.00 EUR, driven largely by high-value bikes and e-bikes.
Frank Hanewinkel, based in Münster, brings more than 20 years of experience in the bicycle industry, including sales roles for Moustache, Q36.5, Pinarello, and Cycle Union GmbH.
Jürgen Moch, of Moch Sales in Bavaria, with over 38 years of experience, has held several sales roles with established e-bike and accessories brands, including SUNN-Bikes, UTO-Bikes, Overade-Helmets, and VSF Fahrradmanufaktur.
Peter Schmidt brings more than 20 years’ experience as an independent sales agent in the sports and bike industry. He has worked alongside strong brands like Gobike, KASK, Ahooga and Benno Bikes. Peter will be visiting specialist retailers across south-west Germany.
The agents will support dealers with product training, point-of-sale material and demonstrations of the TMD Chain Lock's proximity unlock and alarm. Dealers interested in stocking TMD Locks can contact their regional agent or register their interest at TMD Locks' Business Page.
The TMD Chain Lock is now available in three lengths – Mini 70 cm (1.3 kg), Regular 110 cm (1.7 kg) and Long 160 cm (2.1 kg) – and in navy, beige and black. Recommended retail prices range from €229 to €289.
The TMD Ring Lock with real-time GPS and the angle-grinder-resistant TMD U-Lock are planned for Q2 2027.
The lock is available to buy via the official TMD Locks webshop or from selected premium e-bike dealers.
TMD Locks draws on TMD Security’s market-leading ATM security expertise and applies it to the world of e-bikes. Their goal? To develop game-changing and user-friendly keyless electronic locks that are intuitive to use and offer real protection. And in the process, transform locks from something you have to use, into something you want to use.
